Château de Briat Hors d'Age Bas-Armagnac is the aged blend from the Pichon-Longueville family's Armagnac estate in Mauvezin d'Armagnac, in the sandy Bas-Armagnac where the finest Gascon brandies are made. Hors d'Age is the top age category for Armagnac, meaning every brandy in the blend has spent at least ten years in oak.The long aging brings rich dried fruit, prune and fig, subtle baking spice and a velvety smoothness that only time in the barrel can give, with a rounded, lingering finish showing the nutty rancio of mature Armagnac. It is a brandy for sipping neat after dinner, and it makes a luxurious Armagnac Old Fashioned. This 750ml bottle is an elegant, well-priced introduction to aged Armagnac from a Bordeaux-pedigree family.
