Green Spot Quails' Gate Irish Whiskey is the third edition in Green Spot's Wine Geese series, this time partnering with Quails' Gate, the Stewart family winery in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. Green Spot's single pot still whiskey from Midleton Distillery is matured in American oak and ex-sherry casks, then finished for sixteen months in Quails' Gate Pinot Noir casks and bottled at 46% ABV.The nose is vibrant oak with ripe cherry and juicy raspberry from the wine seasoning, balanced by Green Spot's signature apple and pear and a thread of woodland spice and vanilla. The palate is silky and sweet, with soft tannins, dried cranberry and red apple joined by clove and nutmeg over crisp barley. The finish lets the pot still spice fade while the red fruit takes the final bow. This 750ml bottle is a limited edition and a lovely pour for Pinot Noir fans.
